Geneva State Park

This 698-acre park is located on the eastern shoreline of Lake Erie within Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio. It offers visitors a 600-foot natural beach with a designated swimming area (Breakwater Beach) and several areas of freshwater marsh including Cowles Creek, No Name Creek, and Wheeler Creek. The park is also home to acres upon acres of beautiful woodlots including six miles of multi-use trails that are used by hikers, snowmobilers, cross-country skiers, and hunters, as well as a 2-mile paved trail (motorized vehicles prohibited) that spans the park and provides some of the most scenic views of Lake Erie.          Park Map Available Here

Overnight Accommodations- The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake is a full-service resort, right in the heart of Ohio’s Wine Country on the southern shore of Lake Erie adjacent to Geneva State Park. Camping- Geneva State Park Campground has modern facilities with your choice of full hook-up, electric, and non-electric sites as well as cedar cabins. Facilities include laundry, playground, and fish cleaning house. Pets are permitted on all campsites but are not allowed in Cedar Cabins. Reservations are required, online or by calling (866) 644-6727.

Boating- Geneva Marina (440) 466-7565 offers easy access to the central basin of Lake Erie. It includes 379 slips and transient docking, a six-lane boat ramp, a deli and canteen, a fueling station, boat, and trailer storage, bait and tackle supplies, fishing licenses, boat accessories, fish cleaning service, and boat and trailer storage. The marina is also home to a marine services shop that offers small boat repairs, tune-ups, oil changes, etc. For more information, call The Doc Shop at (440) 466-1212. Other water activities include jet-skiing, kayaking, and paddleboarding. Equipment is available to rent at some of the nearby businesses. 

Fishing- Lake Erie, aka “Walleye Capital of the World”, is home to great catches of walleye, yellow perch, channel catfish, and steelhead trout. Bring your boat or charter one of the many private fishing boats available at the marina. Ohio fishing regulations apply. A valid Ohio fishing license is required (16 and older). 

Hunting- Permitted in designated areas from October 15 through February 28 annually. A valid Ohio hunting license is required. Please see the Ohio Hunting and Trapping Regulations. The designated area map can be found here. 

Archery- A range is located within the park on Padanarum Road. It has a raised platform and offers a variety of target ranges. Equipment is not provided. 

Winter Activities- When weather conditions allow, there is a 4.5-mile snowmobiling trail for visitors to enjoy, along with cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Snowshoe and ski rentals are available at the nearby Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. 

Other Activities- A zipline and challenge course at Lake Erie Canopy Tours Aerial Adventure Park, located adjacent to the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. They are open seasonally, from May through October (weather permitting). Rates vary. They also offer pedal boats and kayaks for rent to use on Cowles Creek.
