Our Old Lake Road / Township Park Shoreline Restoration project is a multi-faceted project with two main goals: to generate a public access beach for residents and visitors alike and to afford equitable interaction directly with Lake Erie along the westerly shoreline of Geneva Township Park, as well as to provide protection and some restoration to the shoreline of eight private homeowners directly adjacent to Geneva Township Park. This project will also create stone break walls to mitigate and prevent future erosion along the developed shoreline of the park as well as the eight aforementioned contiguous homes. Currently, there is essentially no direct public access to Lake Erie, and no clear affordable way to the public to interact directly with Lake Erie at Geneva Township Park. This is a rather unfortunate circumstance as the park is openly located and connected directly to the shoreline of Lake Erie, but the nearly 700ft of shoreline in the park is boarded by wide barrier of very large stones (initially placed in an emergency effort to mitigate rapid erosion), affording no safe or practical access directly to the lake.

This project will be broken down into several phases and multiple components. Topographic and bathymetric surveying has already been funded and is underway.
